It's a quiet Sunday afternoon, just past one o'clock. My morning was spent in the best way possible—surrounded by family, sharing stories over brunch after church, and soaking in the warmth of good conversations. But what really struck me today was something deeper, something that inspired me in a way I haven’t felt in a long time.
At 56 years old, I've learned a lot from life, but if I could share just one little secret—something that I know, without a doubt, will change your life for the better—I'd want you to hear it. It's not a grand idea, but more of an insight, a gentle reminder that has the power to transform not just your days, but you—how you think, how you feel, how you view the world.
Are you willing to keep your mind just a little open? Because if you are, I want to tell you what has helped me. I wish someone had shared this with me when I was younger because it would have made such a difference.
The secret? It’s simple: practice gratitude.
Start with just one day, because that’s all we truly have—today, here, now. Take a moment to be thankful for what you have in your life. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture or a long list. Just think of three things that you're grateful for.
You can do it when you're driving to work, when you're pouring your morning coffee, or when you're brushing your teeth. Just three things. Maybe it's your health, your partner, your kids, your friends, or even just the fact that you can move, think, or feel. The abundance in your life is there, waiting for you to notice it.
Then, tomorrow, do it again. It doesn’t have to be the same three things—mix it up if you want. The key is consistency. Day after day, make this small practice a part of your life. Before you know it, you'll look back and realize that this simple act of gratitude has changed your life in ways you never imagined.
Because here’s what I believe: when you come from a place of appreciation and gratitude, you open yourself up to a universe of abundance. It's like a funnel through which limitless good flows into your life—in love, in opportunities, in friendships, in joy.
Gratitude doesn’t just change your life; it transforms the way you see the world. It makes you kinder, more patient, more open to the beauty around you. And it has a ripple effect. When you thank the doctor for their sacrifices or appreciate the cashier at the grocery store, you're spreading that gratitude out into the world.
So, start today. Practice gratitude. Open your heart to the abundance around you. I know, without a doubt, that it will transform your life.
And one day, you’ll look back and say, "I can't believe that simple act of gratitude changed everything." Because it will.
Here's to a life filled with gratitude, and the abundance that follows.
